Rebels News · Massey Signs With Anderson University

Strom Thurmond High School Track and Swim Student Athlete, Maggie Massey, signed with Anderson University today.  Maggie will play softball at Anderson University for the Trojans.  “Maggie has been a fantastic ambassador for Strom Thurmond Athletics on and off the field.  We are proud of her and wish her the best at the next level,”  said Athletic Director, Mack Hite.  Maggie has been a member of the Rebel Track program since the 8th grade and has qualified for State the last two years in the 100 meter and 400 meter hurdles.  Track and Field Head Coach, Leroy Collier, said, “I can truly state in the past five years of knowing Maggie she has learned that if you give your all to what you do, you will have great success in the end. Maggie continues to work extremely hard and invest a lot of her time and energy into athletics, her class work, and her overall personal development.  Maggie has and continues to step up to the challenge and take advantage of athletics by competing at the highest level. I have watched her grow tremendously over the last five years. She started off as a beginner and has developed to be a victorious athlete, role model, leader, and overall individual. Maggie is very respectful and shows great leadership to her team, community, and in school. I am proud of Maggie and her accomplishment, and she is an absolute pleasure and honor to coach.”
