Girls Varsity Soccer · Jahonna Miles Signs with Converse College

Rebel Senior standout Jahonna Miles has signed her letter of intent with Converse College to play Soccer. Jahonna has been a three sport Rebel athlete for several years and has been a true leader on and off the field.

Recently, we had the opportunity to catch up with Jahonna and discuss her decision of choosing Converse and also what it’s like to be a three sport athlete at STHS.

What made you choose Converse?

I chose Converse College because they have an excellent program in the degree I plan on pursuing in. Also, Converse College pushes women’s rights and develops talents of women. I love the environment around Converse because it makes me feel at home.

What’s it’s like being a multi sport athlete?

Being a multi-sport athlete can be challenging but also fun and exciting. You get to experience a lot like meeting friends, meeting coaches, intense moments during games, learning new things to make you better, all while you’re getting your grades and becoming better in the classroom.

How did you balance school and the demands of athletics?

When I was a freshman it was hard for me to maintain grades because I didn’t know how to prioritize then, but as I got older I figured out how to set sports aside and get my work done when it needed to be done. Of course as you get higher in grade level work gets harder, so there were times where I had to stay after school and miss practice to get my lesson.

Anything in particular you would like to share regarding your journey?

I would love to thank God because without him I wouldn’t have this opportunity at all. I would like to thank my parents and brothers for always supporting me, pushing me to be better, and cheering me on. I would like to thank my coaches and teammates for also pushing me to be better and making me the athlete I am today. I would like to thank the coaches that believed in me and seen my hard work and dedication to offer me a position on their team. And last, I would like to thank Strom Thurmond High School for giving me the opportunity to wear their jerseys and represent them.

Congratulations Jahonna! We are proud of you! Good luck!
