Game Recap

Four games into the 2014-15 season the Lady Rebels are still searching for offense. The Rebels gasped and sputtered in a 65-27 loss to Airport. The Rebels managed to shoot less than 25% from the field and only 50% from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Kayla Adams showed signs of emerging from her shooting slump by leading the team with 12 points including three 3 pointers. Ashlee Chinn and Cyntherria Sullivan each added 4 points. Tierra Nick and Brionna Thomas were bright spots on the boards.
“It’s going to take some time,” Lady Rebels coach Yolanda Settles said. “You score 5 and 3 points to start each half, you’re going to have problems. We’re just going to have to get to practice tomorrow and practice harder, better, and smarter. I must do a better job of preparing my team to play.”
The Lady Rebels return to action on Friday at Swansea.

Game Recap

The Lady Rebels defeated the Green Hornets of CA Johnson in overtime 31-25. The victory came less than a week after the two teams split a four-quarter scrimmage. The Lady Rebels used this earlier success to compete with great intensity and confidence the entire game. The 3rd quarter saw the Rebels erase a halftime deficit to build a 5 point lead entering the final period. Untimely Rebel turnovers and missed layups allowed the Hornets back in the game. With less than a minute remaining and a 1 point lead, the Hornets fouled the driving Cyntherria Sullivan. The freshman point guard tied the game sending it into overtime. In OT, the Lady Rebels dominated defensively holding the Hornets scoreless while making 4 out of 6 free throws, Senior Tierra Nick showed tremendous leadership down the stretch posting and kicking the ball out relieving the pressure on the guards and milking the clock. The team was led in scoring by Sullivan who had 13 points. Despite a poor shooting night, sophomores Kayla Adams had 7 points and Ashlee Chinn added 5. Many other players contributed in other non-scoring capacities. It was a great TEAM win!

Cyntherria Sullivan and Michaela Griffin were named to the All-Tournament team.

Th Lady Rebels will travel to Airport on Tuesday, December 2 to open the regular season. GO REBELS!!
